For the first time, an European Tournament is hosted in two big cities of Romania, Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca. The final UEFA Under 21 Championship tournament will take place between 21 June and 8 July 2023 in Romania and Georgia.

Our country will host no less than 15 matches of the final tournament: Group B matches will be played in Bucharest, which includes Romania, Spain, Ukraine and Croatia, plus one match from the quarterfinals and a semifinal. And in Cluj-Napoca, the matches of Group D will be held in which France, Italy, Norway and Switzerland will face each other, and then a quarter-final.

The matches will take place at the Steaua and Rapid-Giulesti stadiums in Bucharest and at Cluj Arena and Dr. Constantin Rădulescu in Cluj-Napoca. The schedule of matches and other details about the competition can be found at https://www.frf.ro/under21-en/.

In Georgia, Group C and Group D matches will be played. These will put face to face national teams of Germany, England, Czech Republic, Israel, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium and Georgia, and then two quarter-finals, a semi-final and the final of the competition.

“It is a responsibility and an honor for us to be the hosts of this competition alongside Georgia. It is a confirmation that the presence of Bucharest among the host cities of EURO 2020 was a success and we hope that in the future Romania will also organize other European competitions. I want to thank the mayors of the Capital, Sector 6 and Cluj-Napoca for the support they give us in organizing the tournament. I am sure it will be a memorable experience for football fans. The final #U21EURO tournament has been the launching pad for big names in European football over the years and this edition is sure to shine a spotlight on new names in football at the highest level. The final UEFA Under 21 tournament also aims to inspire new generations of football-loving children. Because age doesn’t matter when the quality of football is so high”, said Răzvan Burleanu, president of the Romanian Football Federation.

Romania participates for the third consecutive time in this competition and, thanks to the performances obtained in the previous editions, it was drawn in the second urn.

Ianis Hagi, official ambassador of the competition and representative of the U21 generation who managed Romania’s best performance at #U21Euro 2019, in Italy, said: “I was very happy when I received the proposal to be the ambassador of this competition that is also held at our home. It is an honor for any footballer to play in front of his own supporters, even more so in a final tournament. We have a generation with a lot of potential and I want them to surpass the performance achieved by us in 2019. They will meet top teams in Europe and they will need all the support that I know the Romanian fans are capable of. The moments of Italy 2019 are something unique in my soul. And I am convinced that, together with 30,000 fans in the stands, ours are capable of memorable matches”.
