On Sunday, June 1st, the opening event of the Volunteer Program for the UEFA Under-19 Championship Romania 2025 was held at the Giulești Stadium, one of the four stadiums where the tournament matches will take place.

Approximately 100 people attended the event, including some of the volunteers who passed the final stage of the recruitment process, as well as some of the managers from the local operational team. They had the opportunity to get to know each other, socialize, and set the foundation for their future collaboration.

In the first part, video and live messages of encouragement and congratulations were delivered by several individuals who have supported the U19 EURO Volunteer Program since its launch. Among them were: Răzvan Burleanu, President of the Romanian Football Federation; Alexandru Cândea, Project Leader of the UEFA Under-19 Championship Romania 2025; Nicolae Stanciu and Ciprian Stoica, UEFA Under-19 Ambassadors; Raluca Coc, sports nutritionist; three U19 national team players – David Matei, Ioan Vermeșan, and Luca Băsceanu – as well as Senior National Team member Răzvan Marin.

In the second part, the volunteers received all the necessary information about the tournament from both a sporting and operational perspective, which are essential for the efficient conduct of their activities. On this occasion, they learned about the responsibilities they will have, the cooperation relationships with all stakeholders involved in the tournament according to UEFA standards, the rules of conduct and dress code, as well as other important details.

The event concluded with a group activity, where the volunteers participated in a game specially designed for them by the Volunteer Management Team. The game aimed to help them interact, make new friends, and strengthen the teamwork that will support them throughout the operational period (June 13–26). Before leaving, each participant wrote two messages of encouragement: one for a teammate and one for a volunteer assigned to a different stadium. These messages will be displayed in the Volunteer Centers at each stadium.

„Recently, we completed the rigorous recruitment process, which consisted of three key stages: application form – selection interview – role confirmation, all carried out over a period of three months. Out of 538 applications, we selected and confirmed 94 volunteers who will take on 8 key roles across 4 stadiums to ensure the exemplary organization and delivery of the 15 matches. Together with the Volunteer Management Team, we made the best decisions according to the standards and needs of the UEFA Under-19 Championship Romania 2025 in order to form this synergistic team. We are confident that all involved will demonstrate great proactivity, determination, motivation, and confidence with the goal of making a meaningful contribution to all processes and interactions with stakeholders.
