MAIN RULE: There are no more different treatments for different categories, like Group 1, 2 or 3, or spectators. ALL the aliens are welcomed in Romania. Visa requirements as before the pandemic (depends on the citizenship of the traveller).

There are still some rules for avoiding quarantine, depending on the departure country and categories.

Definitions

Red countries: 14 days COVID-19 case notification rate bigger than 3 per 1.000 inhabitants.

Yellow countries: 14 days COVID-19 case notification rate between 1.5 and 3 per 1.000 inhabitants.

Green countries: 14 days COVID-19 case notification rate less than 1.5 per 1.000 inhabitants.

Vaccine: SARS-CoV-2 virus vaccine, inclusive the second dose administrated for the two-dose vaccine types and for which at least 10 days have passed before entering Romania.

Immunization through illness: persons who have been confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection in the last 90 days prior to entry into the country, as evidenced by medical documents (positive RT-PCR test at the time of diagnosis, hospital discharge letter or test proving the presence of IgG-type antibodies performed with a maximum of 14 days prior to entry into the country) or by checking the Corona-forms database and for which at least 14 days have elapsed from the date of confirmation to the date of entry into the country.

Staying no longer than 72 hours: persons who remain in the national territory for a period of less than 3 days (72 hours) and present a negative test for SARS-CoV-2, performed no more than 72 hours before boarding (for those traveling by means of transport in common entry) or entry into national territory (for those traveling on their own). If the persons do not leave the national territory within 3 days (72 hours), with the information of the Public Health Directorate of the county where they live or where they have the address declared at the entrance to the country, they will be quarantined for a period of 14 days, starting with the fourth day after entering the Romanian territory.

RT-PCR test: negative result of an RT-PCR test for infection with SARS-CoV-2 virus, performed no more than 72 hours before embarkation (for those traveling by public transport) or entry into the national territory (for those who travel on their own).

SPECIAL RULES FOR CHILDREN AND BABIES

Exempted for quarantine when arriving from yellow and red countries:

  • children less than or equal to 3 years old, without the need to present the negative result of an RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection;
  • children over 3 years old and under 16 years old, if they show a negative RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, performed no more than 72 hours before boarding (for those traveling with means of public transport) or entry into the national territory (for those traveling by their own means).
