On Saturday, May 16, the National Football Centre Mogoșoaia hosted the Green Football Festival, an event dedicated to children that combined football activities with environmental education, organized as part of the Planet Ball project.

A total of 80 children took part in the event, participating in three interactive workshops. Through games, exercises and practical activities carried out on the pitch, the participants played football while also learning, in an age-appropriate format, how to adopt environmentally responsible behaviours and how they can contribute, through simple actions, to protecting the environment.

The event held in Mogoșoaia is part of the Planet Ball project, which uses football as a tool for education and awareness among young people, with a focus on learning, engagement and concrete actions within the community.

About Planet Ball

Planet Ball is a European project supported by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Sport programme, bringing together eight partners from seven countries, including the Romanian Football Federation, alongside organizations and stakeholders from the football and education sectors.

The project aims to promote environmental education through football by developing tools and activities for federations and local actors, enabling children and young people to learn from an early stage of their sporting journey about eco-responsible practices.

Within Planet Ball, young people are encouraged to become “ambassadors of change”, while Green Football Festivals represent one of the ways in which the project transforms learning into visible actions with a real public impact.
