Project mission

The objective of the UEFA EURO 2020 Volunteer Programme is to plan and implement a meaningful, high quality, efficient and memorable programme across all UEFA EURO 2020 venues. Around 1000 volunteers will be required to assist with the delivery of the event’s wide-ranging projects in each host city.

The main mission of the LOS Volunteer Assistant is to assist the LOS Volunteer Manager and Coordinator to oversee and deliver this important aspect of the event, ensuring that volunteers are efficiently sourced, on-boarded, trained to support the event organization and perform the assigned duties well. For this special EURO edition, UEFA would like to make sure the population of Bucharest is engaged and then creates a legacy for volunteering in Europe.

It is the ambition to offer volunteers an unforgettable experience so that they transport a positive image of football across each of the host countries and even beyond.

Key responsibilities

Overall responsibility

Implement the UEFA EURO 2020 volunteer programme by delivering a lasting volunteer legacy for the host country

Communication and cooperation

  • Provide assistance to the LOS Volunteer Manager and Coordinator to ensure that the event’s requirements are delivered in full
  • Raise the awareness of the role and function of volunteers on site
  • Recruitment and training
  • Assist the volunteers’ recruitment process (screening and interviews)
  • Support the distribution of volunteer terms and conditions
  • Support the delivery of an effective training programme, with appropriate support and contents to properly train the volunteers for their position, including the organization of a kick-off event
  • Event-time responsibilities (in accordance with applicable laws)
  • Provide assistance and support in relation to all volunteers’ transport needs
  • Assist the LOS Volunteer Manager and Coordinator to communicate the shift schedule for all volunteers
  • Help to manage the volunteer center and providing inspiration, support and motivation to the volunteers
  • Support the distribution of uniforms
  • Contribute to organize the volunteer closing party, including distribution of gifts and certificates


  • Undertake all necessary administrative duties, which includes a regular communication with candidates and volunteers

Profile of successful candidate

Must-have requirements

  • Team spirit
  • Full professional proficiency in English (both oral and written) and in the local language of the venue
  • IT literate (Microsoft Office and database)
  • Be organized and efficient
  • Good relationships with local universities and student groups
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to take on a wide range of logistics and administrative tasks
  • Discretion and confidentiality
  • Work to your best when under pressure

Additional requirements

  • Have outstanding communication & presentation skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Any additional foreign language is an asset
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of football and the history of the EURO
  • Background information and requirements regarding the cooperation between the LOS and UEFA as well as general rules of conduct
  • These topics will be formalized in the cooperation agreement which will be signed between UEFA and each LOS
  • Several points will be covered, such as general rules of conduct (e.g. as a representative of UEFA EURO 2020, the candidate needs to embrace UEFA’s values such as respect and integrity) or requirements regarding project reporting (e.g. the candidate needs to comply with general guidelines in accordance with UEFA’s programme management approach)
